Hello, everyone!
Today, I’m using this green pepper, pork belly..
and cheese to make super easy & delicious "Green pepper Pork Cheese Roll".
Let’s get started.
It was so good when I ate at the Yakitori Restaurant..
I was moved by the dish..
It was so good simply by salt and pepper.
Today I’m going to make sweet sauce as well.
With soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar.
I might add butter to it for the umami.
However you like, it’s up to your preference.
But basically I’m going to go with salt and pepper.
It looks abundant of green peppers but it’s actually from 1 bag.
It cost less than 200 yen.
A huge bargain..
Depends on the proportion of peppers and pork, I may make the sweetened sauce.
First, cut the peppers in half, then core and seed.
They are all set, cleaned and rinsed.
Today I’m using shredded cheese but you can use more finely shredded one too.
It may be easier to handle depending on the size of the bell peppers.
Pork belly (buta-bara) and flour for the glue.
Place the cheese inside the pepper.
I like to fill a good amount of cheese.
Almost overflowing is my style.
Pork I bought today was about 230 gram.
Flour to 2 slices of pork and connect together, like this way.
Roll and wrap the pepper with pork.
Wrap them well and make sure the cheese won’t overboard as it goes.
One is done.
Let’s make another.
I have enough peppers but not sure about pork..
Pepper and cheese.
From one edge, start wrapping.
Seal the end well.
Like this way. Very simple.
Let me try with one slice of pork…
Cheese overflown is OK.
That way it’ll be crispy and yummy.
As a rule use 2 slices of pork.
But I may have more peppers than pork..
Would this work, you think?
I’ll start with the one using 2 slices.
If I run out of pork slices I’ll shift down to one slice.
Let’s wrap the rest.
This is how they are done.
Lower row is with 1 slice, upper is with 2 slices.
Yeah.. I ran out of the pork but it’ll be OK.
Let’s fry them.
Heat the skillet and add small amount of oil.
You can use regular cooking oil or rice oil.
Spread the oil in the skillet, then lower the heat.
It’ll be ideal if the roll ends face nicely inside of peppers.
If not, place the inside down.
Use the melting cheese from inside to seal and shape it.
For this, its edge is on the back of the pepper, so I’ll put that side down.
If the pork edge happens to be the side or back, use cheese as a guide to face down.
Let’s brown them first. Do not touch.
Start with lower heat then medium.
Flour is used as a glue but cheese does the same job as well.
As a back up glue.
We like eating with salt and pepper mainly which brings out the flavor of green pepper.
Children may like it with sweetened sauce better.
After 2 min when they are browned well , turn.
Unless you start with high heat they won’t be burned.
Cook slowly with medium heat.
In a few minutes I’m going to steam them.
If I steam them now with rice wine they may open.
It’s important to brown well and shape them well at this stage.
They are looking good..
Now pay attention to the cheese. You want the cheese side on top now.
Lower the heat a bit.
Add 1 tablespoon of sake.
Cover.
Cook 2 more min with low heat.
That will cook entirely, from inside of pepper and pork.
Total of 5 – 6 min.
Let’s wait now..
After 2 min of steaming..
This is perfectly fine like this.
We prefer a bit more brown so..
Quickly cook in high heat just to brown better.
Looks ready!
All I need is to salt and pepper, but I’ll show you how to make the sauce as well.
Transfer to the plate to salt and pepper separately.
Salt and pepper ; salt lightly, cheese has some salt too.
Black pepper; I prefer a good amount of it.
"Green pepper Pork Cheese Roll" is done.
If you would like it as they are, as salt and pepper version.
I’ll show you to make the sauce now.
The sauce is quick and easy.
I just tasted a piece and it’s very good as it is.
You may not need the sauce..
Let’s take some burned cheese pieces out.
Also wipe some extra grease out with kitchen paper.
They are also umami so do not remove them completely..
Do not turn the heat on yet.
It’s super easy.
1 tablespoon of soy sauce.
1 tablespoon of sake.
1 tablespoon of mirin.
1 teaspoon of sugar.
If you like, add 1 cm (1/2") long ready-to-use grated garlic.
A tiny bit of it, then turn on the heat.
Let’s evaporate the alchohol.
This is The almighty sauce.
This is good as it is but I’ll add 5 gram of butter for a kick.
Once you throw in the butter, turn off the heat.
Too much heat lessen the flavor of butter.
This completes The Addictive Special Sauce.
Children may prefer this sauce version.
Also it goes well with rice.

These ‘Green pepper and pork’ is such a popular dish in Kushiyaki Restaurant.
Yeah, I was really moved the other day at the restaurant, and I was like, I’ve got to make it myself!
Plenty of cheese outweighs the bitterness of green pepper.
So the even small children may like it without the sauce.
But… since I made it already..
I’m going to use the sauce as a dip.
This saltiness is killing me…
I want a bowl of rice.
Eating with the sauce will make a great main dish with rice.
Also this is absolutely low carb.
Even if you are on a diet, you can eat all you want.
Also quick and easy to make.
Perfect for lunch box too for its bite size and all..

Pork fat melt down nicely inside the boat of green pepper along with cheese.

It keeps well till the following day so try for the lunch box.
The sauce surely will please the children but they might like it without sauce as well.
If the children don’t dislike the green peppers in the first place.
Green peppers are not bitter at all so it may be good even for a snack.

今回は焼き鳥屋さんにあったら必ず頼んじゃうやつ♪
ピーマンの豚チーズ巻きを作りました。
ピーマンのシャキシャキ感とチーズのとろとろ感が堪らんのですが
そこにジューシーな豚バラを巻いて塩コショウだけで頂く♪という
凄くシンプルだけど素材の良さをこれ以上出せるのはないくらい
最高にハマるピーマン料理です♪
豚バラの旨味がちょうどピーマンのくぼみに貯まって
それと溶けたチーズが組み合わさるともう最強!!!!!
いくら食べても食べ足りない!っていつもお店で思いますw
ビール好きには堪らないですがお子さんのおやつにも
糖質制限されている方にも超おすすめだと思います。
あと何より自分で作るとめちゃくちゃ安いんだよねwww
本当に簡単過ぎるくらい簡単なので
是非今晩のおつまみに作ってみて下さい。
やみつきタレをつけるとご飯のおかずにもなるしピーマンが苦手なお子さんも
美味しく食べれると思うよ♪

[Ingredients]
● Green pepper: 8 pieces
● Pork belly: about 230g (about half a piece, but it’s good enough)
● Cheese of your choice
● Sake
● Salt and pepper (I recommend using more pepper to give it more taste)
● Flour
● Oil
[For the addictive sauce]
● Soy sauce: 1 tablespoon
● Mirin : 1 tablespoon
● Sake: 1 tablespoon
● Sugar: 1 teaspoon
● Butter: 5g
