Weekly cooking #138
Hello. My name is Yoko Suzuki. Surprisingly, haven’t prices gone up again recently?
The other day, I was thinking of buying spinach, but it was more expensive than I expected, so I stopped and bought komatsuna instead. LOL
Until last month, my food expenses were around 20,000 yen. However, I was surprised again when I heard about a person at work who was able to manage his food expenses on about 10,000 yen a month!
I looked it up on Youtube and found out that there are people who are practicing it. Isn’t this a lie in an era of rising prices?
…But if I actually try it, maybe I can do it? I was intrigued and decided to give it a try.
So this time, I decided to try living with a monthly food budget of 10,000 yen! It will also save you money.
Even if you fail or succeed, you can definitely learn something from it. However, I didn’t cut back too much and continued to cook and live as usual.
Looking at everyone’s comments, some said it was a bit reckless, but I was willing to try anything.
Since I live alone, I can’t cook very elaborate meals, but this might be a good opportunity to reevaluate your food expenses.
Now let’s take a look inside the refrigerator. Delicious deep-fried tofu with eggs. There are also quite a few vegetables left. Two frozen udon noodles and rice.
There is a piece of salmon that costs 111 yen. Since I started cooking suddenly, there are still some ingredients left in the fridge.
But there’s no meat. Then I’ll go shopping. I go to nearby supermarkets to find something cheaper.
Today’s shopping looks like this. Oh, I bought some green peppers even though they were still available💦Oh, they’re great.
This is what happens when you jump on something because it’s cheap. That’s true (lol) I was living on 2,000 yen a week, but this week’s food expenses were 1,550 yen.
So, this time I would like to introduce you to the real life of living on 2000 yen per week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It’s day 1. Breakfast is homemade miso soup with mushrooms, onions, and wakame. It’s delicious when eaten with rice.
I used 1/2 bag of enoki mushrooms. Easy and delicious.
Lunch is chive balls and morning miso soup. The key to the flavor is a small amount of oyster sauce. The crunchy chives and fluffy eggs have a lingering flavor.
Dinner is fried tofu stew in Chikuzen. I sometimes feel like eating boiled food. But boiled food can be surprisingly expensive.
This time, I used fried tofu instead of chicken thighs to keep costs down. Full of nutrition with plenty of vegetables. It’s delicious and filling.
One bag of fried tofu makes one serving. it’s the best. I made komatsuna namul as a garnish. It’s nice to have a side dish ❤
It’s the second day. Breakfast is natto rice and radish miso soup. Natto is delicious, isn’t it? I feel relieved.
I made kinpira using radish skin. Effective use of leftover ingredients. Thank you for teaching me.
Lunch is fried tofu stew in Chikuzen and morning miso soup. It was flavorful and delicious. Dinner is chicken fillet cutlet, green peppers, and carrots stir-fried with eggs.
This time, I used chicken fillet, which was cheaper than chicken breast. If you make it into a fillet cutlet, you’ll be happy to increase the volume.
The meat is soft, so I think it’s a menu that is friendly to small children and the elderly. I added onion rice or ponzu sauce to make the blood smooth.
It was a delicious dinner that was easy on the wallet.
It’s the third day. On this day, I made a lunch box for my part-time job. Breakfast is rice with rice or soy sauce.
"Nekomanma" is easy to eat. There is no other meal that is so simple and delicious.
The side dishes are leftovers from yesterday. This is what the lunch box looks like. A fried egg made with one egg. It’s amazing that there’s no waste! That’s what I thought and tried making it.
I’m lucky to have a snack on this day. Your fatigue will be blown away. After a tiring night at work, you want to make it easy.
Dinner is Taiwanese style meat miso mixed udon. I bulked up the little minced meat with tofu.
You can save time by putting all the ingredients in a frying pan and making it all at once. I made udon noodles so it’s very easy.
It’s fun to eat while mixing the ingredients. It was delicious and filling.
It’s the 4th day. Breakfast is egg-cooked rice. Surprise with twin eggs! Looks like something good will happen in the morning.
It was my first time eating twin egg rice. It was delicious.
The bento is a two-color bento with meat and miso. Meat miso goes well with noodles and rice. It’s convenient to make a lot in advance.
For dinner, I made sweet and sour pork with chicken fillet. It’s called “sugar chicken” because it’s made with chicken.
If you think about it, that’s true. I learned a lot (≧◇≦) This is what happens when you make something with something. It had a good balance of meat and vegetables. I am glad.
It’s the 5th day. Breakfast is tenkasu and green seaweed rice balls. And the miso soup from the day before.
It’s called the devil’s rice ball, and it was so delicious that I ate way too much! I wasn’t very hungry, so I made mitarashi dango with the leftover rice.
When topped with plenty of piping hot “mitarashi an”, it was chewy and delicious. I can’t stop using chopsticks.
Let’s have a light lunch. But I finished the sweet snack (^^♪ It was easy to make and very delicious. For
dinner, I had Gomokuni and salt-grilled salmon. Gomokuni, which is full of vegetables, is a side dish that I would like to keep on hand if possible. That’s right.
I just grilled the salmon that I bought when it was cheap. I was relieved to eat Japanese food for the first time in a while. It’s the
6th day. For breakfast, I had gomoku beans over rice. The gomoku beans, which are full of vegetables, have a great taste. It soaked well and was delicious. The
bento looks like this.I made fried chikuwa isobe and kinpira with green pepper and carrot.I don’t have tamagoyaki, but I substitute
gomoku beans for protein. The staple food is plum rice rice balls. .Dinner
was grilled green onions with lots of green onions. It was crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and very delicious. After adding the sauce, it became okonomiyaki.I was so happy. It was the 7th day.On the last day, I had grilled onions for breakfast
. A tofu salad topped with plenty of tofu. For the sauce, I added sesame seeds, sesame oil, and bean sauce to the usual ponzu soy sauce. It was a little
spicy and very delicious. For lunch, I made takikomi rice.I had some leftover
in the fridge . I used tagobo, carrots, konnyaku, fried tofu, and shiitake mushrooms.I had
time until the rice was cooked, so I also made miso soup with shimeji mushrooms. What should I make with the leftover vegetables? When I was thinking about it, a viewer asked me
. I received some great advice. The rice cooked with vegetable flavor was so delicious that I ended up having to refill it. I’m really grateful for this. Let’s make it again ❤ By the way, do you all like
hamburgers
? You’ll want to eat it, right? Dinner is a hamburger steak. There was some minced meat left, but it’s only 100g. Ah, that’s right, let’s bulk it up. French fries go well with the hamburger steak. Looks like a good combination
.
Curry I still have all the potatoes I bought for the day. A hamburger with chunks of potatoes might be delicious. Cut the potatoes into cubes and fry them in a frying pan. For the minced pork, add breadcrumbs,
milk, garlic, salt and pepper, and mix well. Let
the fried potatoes cool down a little to remove the rough heat, then
add them to the minced meat and form into a hamburger. What should I use as a garnish?Onion steak would be great♪Onions become sweeter when heated
. I was able to double the size of the hamburger steak with lots of potatoes.
Cover the hamburger steak with a lid and slowly steam-fry it. The volume is amazing.
Adding parsley to the onions will take it to the next level. White rice goes well with hamburgers.
Once the shimeji mushroom miso soup is warmed up, the hamburger steak is ready. It has a strong taste. It’s delicious even if you eat it as is.
I ate it with ketchup. I’ll enjoy having this. Now, I wonder what’s inside the refrigerator.
I would like to eat the leftover cooked rice tomorrow. Due to rising prices, eggs are no longer a staple item.
Even if you eat three meals a day, there are still plenty of vegetables left over. Onions too. Isn’t this surprisingly possible?
I think what I discovered after starting this experiment was a big accomplishment for me. I’m a picky eater, so I wanted it to be more luxurious.
Next time I’ll go more luxurious. This month, I will try to reach a food expense goal of 10,000 yen per month. I’ll do my best.If

ありがとうm(_ _)m。
